Deck Cleaning

A deck takes more punishment than any other part of your home: sun, rain, snow, and everyone’s weekend. Careful cleaning removes the gray, green and slick, and gets the wood ready for stain or sealer.

What weathers a deck

Wood decks gray out because sunlight breaks down the surface fibers, and rain carries dirt and spores into the grain. Algae and mildew grow in damp spots under planters, around railings, and along the north edge. Composite decks avoid some of those problems but still collect pollen, mildew, and food spills. Left uncleaned, a slick deck is a safety problem, and growth between boards holds moisture that shortens the life of the lumber.

Why gentle is important

High pressure can fuzz and gouge softer wood like pine and cedar, leave wand marks, and push water into joints. We match the method to your deck: a low-pressure wash with a wood-safe cleaning solution for most wood decks, a gentler approach for older or softer boards, and appropriate cleaners for composites. If you plan to stain or seal, we get the wood clean and let you know how long to let it dry first.

Complete the outdoor space

Decks are often paired with porch and patio cleaning, fence cleaning and house washing. Doing them together keeps the whole backyard consistent, and our plans bundle an annual deck or fence cleaning.
